Cyber Security Technologist Level 4 Apprenticeship

This vital occupation is needed in all sectors and organisations that use technology. From Digital, Telecoms and Defence through to Government, Finance, Health and Retail, businesses of all sizes need cybersecurity experts to protect their data, systems and information from unauthorised access and attacks.

On completion of this apprenticeship, you will be a competent Cyber Risk Analyst, equipped with the skills you need to work in this exciting field.

Delivery and assessment

This apprenticeship is delivered over 24 months. You will attend college each week during term time and complete around 65 hours of online learning. Assessor/employer reviews take place every 12 weeks to monitor and support your progress.

Example job roles

As a Cyber Security expert, you will have a choice of a wide range of sectors and industries. You may wish to work for a governmental organisation, a large corporate company or a small business – all of which require the expertise of skilled cyber risk analysts.

Pay and training

You will complete a minimum 20% off-the-job training, securing both theoretical and practical skills.

Your End Point Assessment will include a professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of work. You will also undertake scenario demonstrations and questioning, a project report and a knowledge test.

Your employer and the government will pay any tuition fees for your apprenticeship. As an apprentice, you will be paid to at least the national minimum wage and receive holiday pay.

Entry requirements

Employers will set their own requirements for their apprentices. However, you will typically be expected to have five GCSEs at Grades 9-4 including Maths, English and a Level 3 (A Level equivalent) ICT-related qualification.
