Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship
This specialist occupation is found in the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (AME) sector. As a Machining Technician, you will produce complex and precision-machined products that are typically used in machinery, including aeroplanes and vehicles.
AME includes the Aerospace, Automotive, Maritime Defence, Nuclear and Construction sectors. You will learn how to use a variety of equipment, including centre lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, to produce components from metal or specialist materials. You will interpret information, set up, operate and adjust machine tool settings. In addition, this role involves inspecting machinery, reporting issues and supporting improvement activities.
Depending on the type of organisation you are working for, you may be required to work at height and/or work shifts within a manufacturing environment.

You will complete a minimum 20% off-the-job training, securing both theoretical and practical skills.
Your End Point Assessment (EPA) will include a project with a presentation and questioning, together with a professional discussion and portfolio.
