Course Overview:

This course will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills to work as a laboratory technician within a range of environments. Laboratory technicians support scientists and help carry out tests, research and investigations. This would include testing and analysing samples and could be in a variety of industries or an educational environment.
​
The qualification contain Mandatory Units covering generic knowledge and skills including Health and Safety and laboratory techniques and practice, and a range of Optional Units covering areas such as laboratory procedures and housekeeping, Biological, Chemcial and Physical laboratory techniques.
​
Achievement of the qualification enables an individual to achieve recognition as a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) through the Science Council’s Professional Registers which provide a framework of professional recognition and development across the science workforce.

Outcome/Achievement:
​
On completion of the HNC qualification you can progress onto a HND and then to degree level programme.

Successful completition of this course will give you access into a Higher Level course in Science course.
